The State Department has released its annual adoption report for Fiscal Year 2010. The report shows a total of 11,059 incoming intercountry adoptions, based on the number of visas issued in both Hague and non-Hague cases. This compares with a total of 12,753 in fiscal year 2009, and 22,990 at the high point in fiscal year 2004. There were 43 outgoing Hague adoption cases during the fiscal year, primarily from Florida (27). The largest number of visas in incoming cases were issued for children adopted from mainland China (3401) and Ethiopia (2513), followed by Russia (1082), South Korea (863) and Ukraine (445). The report includes information on median adoption fees and the average number of days required to finalize adoptions in incoming Hague cases, and information on cases involving disruption or dissolution of completed intercountry adoptions during the fiscal year.
